Terms of Use

Effective date: 18 August 2026

These terms cover your use of the Meret app and this website. Meret is free, has no account, and runs entirely on your phone, so these terms are short and plain. By using Meret, you agree to them.

Your recordings are yours

Everything you capture with Meret, your recordings, your ideas, and the details you add, is your creative work and remains yours. We claim no ownership of it and no license to it. The app does not send it to us, and we never receive it.

The app is provided as is

Meret is provided free and "as is", without warranties of any kind. We work to make recording and saving reliable, but we cannot guarantee the app will be error-free, or that a recording will always succeed on every device in every condition. For anything you cannot afford to lose, keep your own copies.

Your data is your responsibility

Your data lives only on your device. You are responsible for keeping your phone secure and for keeping your own backups and exports of anything important. Because we hold nothing on any server, we cannot recover your recordings if your device is lost, reset, or damaged.

Acceptable use

Use Meret for your own musical creativity. Only record where you have the right to, and respect the rights of others when you record, share, or export audio that includes people, performances, or copyrighted material. Do not attempt to misuse, tamper with, or reverse the app in order to harm others, and do not use it to break the law.

Limitation of liability

To the extent allowed by law, Meret and its maker are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the app or website, including the loss of a recording or any decision made based on the app. Your use is at your own risk.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, we will update the effective date above and publish the new version at this address.
